The digital MIDPOINT Writers’ Room announces its selection

The second edition of the MIDPOINT Writers’ Room, the Prague-based institute’s TV writing-focused programme, is going online this year and will run from 14-23 October. It has just announced its new six participants, who hail from six countries.

As in the previous edition, the workshop led by two tutors will offer a training experience that is intended to simulate a writers’ room and to help the participants get acquainted with the associated structure, hierarchy and processes. Hungarian creative executive and MIDPOINT TV Launch head of studies Gabor Krigler will continue to offer his perspective for a second year, while his fellow tutor Ben Harris has recently finished writing and executive-producing Young Wallander, and was the writer and executive producer for Devils, a conspiracy thriller set in the world of high finance. The structure of the lectures will recreate the creative atmosphere of the writers’ room via an interactive, online platform, and this will be complemented by theoretical lectures.

The six talents who are set to take part in the second edition of the Writers’ Room workshop include Bulgarian writer-director Slava Doytcheva, whose last two short films, Whole and Eggshells, have received numerous awards and screened at over 60 festivals, such as Sarajevo, Uppsala, Glasgow, Riga and Huesca, among others. Another is UK-based writer-producer Christos Kardana, co-founder of the boutique production company Craven Street, who also produced Chris Mul’s Astral. Kardana’s latest short, Blood, premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. The third participant is Polish screenwriting expert, mentor and script coach Agnieszka Kruk, who has co-penned circa 1,200 episodes of primetime TV series, and who is also the founder and programme director of StoryLab.pro in Warsaw.

The other participants are Italian writer-producer Fabrizio Muscia, who shares his time between Los Angeles and Rome, with a dozen short films and two feature-length documentaries under his belt. He is now developing his upcoming drama series with TDO Media. Slovenia’s Miha Šubic has worked as a director, writer, editor and animator on various short films, TV series and commissioned films, and his works are mainly in the genres of live action, animation and documentary. Finally, French-based Sarit Zadok was born in Israel and was raised in the USA. After a career in advertising content writing and digital marketing, she started writing real-life stories about victims of genocide and producing teaser docudramas.
