Cinema from Spain wins Best Pavilion Design Award at the Marché du Film

The 3rd edition of the Pavilion Design Award at the Marché du Film took place on Wednesday 24 June, keeping up with the idea of highlighting the precious and fruitful involvement of all the institutions attending the event every year.

The jury this year was composed of Xavier Cailly, CTO of the Communications agency Bronx, Pierre Lescure, Cannes Film Festival President, and Ben Croll, journalist. They gathered in Paris, in the Marché du Film offices, for an online walkthrough of all the pavilions.

The main winner of this first time digital edition was 'Cinema from Spain', the Spanish pavilion set by the country's ICAA – Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute. Taking the 2020 Best Pavilion Design Award home, the pavilion offered the visitor very dense and precise information covering an impressive variety of topics in a very clear and structured way, while automatically including them in a real concentrated market experience with an omnipresent bright and colorful design all along the journey, from the welcome desk entrance until the chill out end of the day friendly tradition. The jury was impressed by the double challenge fulfilled here in terms of both content and technology.

A ‘Coup de coeur’ mention was bestowed upon the New Zealand Film Commission. The jury was really seduced by the bright and very mastered way the New Zealand Film Commission used technologies at its disposal to offer a modern and distinctive experience to the visitor while promoting the country’s various advantages as a shooting destination.

Lastly, a Jury special mention went to SEE NL, set in close collaboration between Eye and the Netherlands Film Fund. Last year in Cannes, the SEE NL pavilion won the Best Pavilion Design Award for its outstanding creativity which had included Rembrandt references, after having done the same with Mondrian in 2017. This year again, and in a completely new context with new challenges, SEE NL succeeds in offering a perfect overview of its national industry together with a strong identity.
