After being shown at Venice, Montreal and Toronto, A Talking Picture ('Un Filme Falado') by Manoel de Oliveira has been nominated as the Portuguese entry to go forward to compete at the 2004 Oscars.

This seems to be a great week for Oliveira, as he is also set to be presented with an honour by the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, for his contribution to the World Cinema.
It has also been announced that on November 24, Oliveira will be in Italy to receive The Vittorio De Sica Award. He will be presented with the prize by the president of the republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.
A Talking Picture is being released in Portuguese cinemas on October 17, 2003.
