Eurimages supports 16 co-productions

- New projects by Ali Abbasi, Juho Kuosmanen, Santiago Mitre and Lisandro Alonso get funding, while the mandate of executive director Roberto Olla is renewed for a new term starting on July 2020

At its 157th meeting held from 9 to 12 December in Berlin, the Board of Management of the Council of Europe's Eurimages Fund agreed to support 15 fiction films and one documentary project for a total amount of €3,399,600. The share of eligible projects with female directors examined at this Eurimages Board of Management meeting was 14.71%; 18.75% of the projects supported were directed by women; €764 000 was awarded to these projects, representing 22.47% of the total amount awarded.

The Board of Management of the fund also agreed to support 16 requests for payment submitted by 11 distributors as part of the Distribution Support Programme (Support for “marketing and publicity costs”), as well as several promotion activities in 2020 (read more here).

Lastly, they further decided to grant Eurimages patronage to the next edition of Meeting Point - Vilnius (30 March - 1 April 2020), to suspend new grant awards for the year 2020, to launch a call for partnership proposals during 2020 which will be used to select partnerships to be implemented from 1 January 2021 and, to unanimously recommend the renewal of the mandate of Roberto Olla, Executive Director of Eurimages for a new term, starting on 1 July 2020.
