Amidst today’s European geopolitical climate plagued by the constant toing and froing of Brexit, the jury of the 30th Dinard Film Festival, dedicated to British cinema, has sent a crystal-clear message by handing the Golden Hitchcock Grand Jury Prize for Best Film to a co-production between Germany and the UK, a feature that is also symbolic of the reconciliation between the peoples of different countries: The Keeper [+see also:

First unveiled at the Zurich Film Festival and screened at the Berlinale (as part of the Lola programme), the film, starring Davis Kross, Freya Mavor, John Henshaw and Gary Lewis, depicts the extraordinary life and career of Bert Trautmann, a German soldier who, at the end of World War II, was scouted in a prisoner-of-war camp near Manchester by the coach of a local football team. Impressed by the young man’s skills in the goalmouth, the coach manages to get him out of the camp so that he can join his team… Produced by Lieblingsfilm, Zephyr Films and British Film Company, the feature is being sold by Beta Cinema.

The jury chaired by French actress-director Sandrine Bonnaire also singled out the screenplay of VS. [+see also:
