For its 84th session, Wallimage, the Walloon regional investment fund, has just handed out support to the tune of €1.67 million to nine Belgian and international projects.

One of the most prominent projects receiving backing is Annette, the mysterious upcoming film by Leos Carax. After a long gestation period and several changes to its cast, the movie, a musical comedy, will star Adam Driver as a stand-up comedian and Michelle Williams as an opera singer. They have a little two-year-old daughter, who seems to be developing a curious power… The original soundtrack has been entrusted to Sparks, and the film is being produced by Arena Films for France, Vega Film for Switzerland and Wrong Men for Belgium.

and Leatherface, which is being produced in Belgium by Scope Pictures; and Skylines, the third instalment in a series of science-fiction features (Skyline and Beyond Skyline) aired on Netflix, which will be staged in Belgium by Fontana.

The fund is also throwing its weight behind two series projects. The first is La Patrouille, the new series to come out of the RTBF/Wallonia Brussels Federation Fund, directed by Indra Siera, who was also at the helm of some of the episodes of another series from the fund, Unité 42, season 2 of which is currently being shot. The main characters are a scout patrol who are terrorised by the enigmatic Koen de Bouw (De Premier [+see also:

The series delves to the heart of Islamic State, and is being co-produced by Freemantle Media (UK), Haut et Court (France), Spiro (Israel) and Versus.

Lastly, Wallimage will be supporting two animated children’s series adapted from cult books (Le Petit Nicolas, produced by Belvision, and Chien Pourri, co-produced by Taka and Panique), as well as two Belgian documentaries, Hypercitoyen, produced by Domino, and Brigades des mineurs Molenbeek, staged by Prod à la demande.
