Visions du Réel Industry is gearing up for its 17th edition, which will take place as an integral part of the 50th edition of the Visions du Réel International Film Festival, from 5-13 April. 

A total of 27 projects have been selected for the three main international sections, Pitching du Réel, Docs in Progress and Rough Cut Lab, and another 13 Swiss documentaries in development or at the finishing stage will be presented in Perspectives d'un doc and Swiss Film Market Preview, respectively.

Pitching du Réel is Visions du Réel’s international co-production forum for creative documentaries intended for theatrical distribution and TV broadcasting. Fifteen projects from 17 countries around the world will compete for six awards, and among them are 11 European productions or co-productions. Docs in Progress will present eight feature films at the finishing stage to festival representatives, funds supporting post-production, post-production facilities, distributors and TV buyers, and those involved will subsequently have the chance to have one-on-one meetings and discuss potential collaborations. Six projects hail from the USA, Romania, Switzerland, Argentina, Ukraine and Italy, and there are two co-productions, between France and Japan, and Egypt and Germany. Rough Cut Lab will present four projects at the rough-cut stage, and they are all European co-productions, between France and Burkina Faso, Morocco and France, Germany, Qatar, Lebanon, France and Palestine, and Switzerland and Germany. They will be vying for the Raggioverde Subtitling Award, and the full list of participating projects can be found here.

In addition, seven Swiss projects currently in development will be eligible for the Prix RTS: Perspectives d'un doc (the full list can be found here), while six Swiss documentaries at the finishing stage will be presented in the Swiss Film Market Preview (the full list can be found here).

The industry section will also include several talks and panels about the future of creative documentary films, gender equality in Swiss productions, film marketing, finding the origins of a story, the challenges of digital film publishing, and a case study on the Czech-French-Slovakian feature The Sound Is Innocent [+see also:
