De Tweeling for Awards

by

The film representing the Netherlands at the next edition of the Oscars has finally been chosen: the nomination has been given to De Tweeling (Twin Sisters) directed by Ben Sombogaart. The film was released on 68 Dutch screens on December 12, 2002, distributed by RCV, and it was an immediate hit at the box office.
The story is based on the best-seller by Tessa de Loo, and it follows the lives of Lotte and Anna Bamberg, two twin sisters who are separated after the death of their parents, who go to live in two different countries, one in Holland and the other in Germany. They are only reunited when WWII breaks out.
The film stars Ellen Vogel, Thekla Reuten, Gudrun Okras and Nadja Uhl and it is produced by IdtV. Miramax has already clinched a distribution deal for the film in North America.
