ZagrebDox Pro prepares for another successful edition
A previous edition of the ZagrebDox Pro Pitching Forum

The 15th ZagrebDox International Documentary Film Festival’s (24 February-3 March) industry training programme, ZagrebDox Pro, has already started and will run from 24 February-1 March, welcoming 12 creative documentary projects that are currently at different stages of development and production.

As one of the few documentary festivals boasting an industry event since its very first edition, over the past 14 years, ZagrebDox Pro has enjoyed a high rate of success, as it has seen 169 projects pass through its doors, 77 of which have been completed. Some of the most recent completed projects are Jaśmina Wójcik’s Symphony of the Ursus Factory [+see also:

As in previous years, the workshop mentors at ZagrebDox Pro, Leena Pasanen, managing and artistic director of DOK Leipzig, and director and producer at Stefilm Stefano Tealdi, will consult with and prepare the creative teams (director and producer) for their one-on-one meetings with possible partners and the public Pitching Forum session that is scheduled for 28 February. There, the panel of experts comprising Vladimir Brnardić (HTV), Lejla Dedić (Al Jazeera Balkans), Thierry Detaille (Visible Film), Hanka Kastelicová (HBO Europe), Catherine Le Clef (Cat&Docs), Katarina Zrinka Matijević (HAVC), Jarmila Outratová (Jihlava IDFF), Leena Pasanen, Andraž Pöschl (RTV Slovenija), Rada Šešić (Sarajevo/IDFA/IFFR), Harry Vaughn (Sundance Film Festival) and acclaimed Serbian director Želimir Žilnik will decide on the best projects that will be deserving of the ZagrebDox Pro awards.

In addition to the Pitching Forum, two master classes, one case study and an extended talk are being organised by ZagrebDox Pro. Želimir Žilnik will lead the “No Taboos” master class, where he will share his experience in low-budget docu-fiction films and the challenges he encountered during their production. Based on his work with archive material in four montage documentaries, Sergei Loznitsa will focus on the process of using found footage while constructing creative documentaries. In an extended talk, director of ZagrebDox Nenad Puhovski will chat with the artistic director of IDFA, Orwa Nyrabia, regarding his experience of curating the world’s leading documentary film festival and his plans for the future. Also, film publicist Mirjam Wiekenkamp (NOISE Film PR) will lead a case study on the promotional needs of documentaries. Finally, in association with AVC Zagreb, Sony will present its latest equipment for film professionals.
