Alain Attal, who manages Paris-based outfit Trésor Films, has won the 12th Daniel Toscan du Plantier Award handed out by the Academy of Film Arts and Techniques to acknowledge the best producer of 2018. He thus follows in the footsteps of last year’s victors, Marie-Ange Luciani and Hugues Charbonneau (of Les Films de Pierre).

Interestingly, Alain Attal (who was keen to share his victory with Hugo Sélignac, of Chi-Fou-Mi Productions) has won the second Daniel Toscan du Plantier Award of his career, after previously scooping the prize in 2012. He is thus neck and neck on the winners’ list with Sylvie Pialat (of Les Films du Worso) and Grégoire Sorlat (of Why Not), who have also tasted victory twice, while the grand record holder is still Pascal Caucheteux (of Why Not), with three of the prizes in his trophy cabinet.
