, and set to grace screens next year in Nous finirons ensemble and Pure as Snow).

The story, written by Nicole Garcia and her regular writing partner Jacques Fieschi (a four-time nominee for the César in his category), revolves around Lisa and Simon, a couple in love in modern-day Paris. She is a student in a hotel management school and expects more from this relationship than he does. But after an evening turns sour and puts him in danger, Simon suddenly ups and leaves France. Lisa waits for news from Simon, but it never comes. Several years later, their paths cross once again on the Indian Ocean…

Produced by Philippe Martin and David Thion (see the interview) for Les Films Pelléas (who previously teamed up with the director on Going Away), Lovers is being co-produced by France 3 Cinéma. Having been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature is also being backed by the Île-de-France region. The 13-week shoot will take place from 28 January-12 April in the Paris region, Switzerland and Mauritius, with Christophe Beaucarne (nominated five times for the César Award in his category between 2010 and 2018, including for From the Land of the Moon in 2017; winner of the Lumières Award for Best Cinematography for Barbara [+see also:
