The Riga International Film Festival held the third edition of its pitching forum for children’s and youth film projects this year. A total of 13 projects were introduced, and the international jury decided to give the Best Film Award to Czech director Petr Oukropec’s family feature Martin and the Forest Secret (produced by BFilm.cz), which received €5,000 in post-production services or gear rental from BBrental. The runner-up, which won the Best Baltic Project Award of €2,000 in services, was the Estonian film project Totally Boss by Ingomar Vihmar, produced by Nafta Films.

“My main criteria for choosing a particular project were its originality and its ability to attract a wider audience,” explains Zane Kauliņa, programme manager at Forum Cinemas and one of the jury members. “Another important criterion was whether the producers would be able to finalise it and bring it to the big screen, with or without our support.”

The Riga International Film Festival is taking place from 18-31 October.
