 follows train driver Nurlan (Miki Manojlović), who is heading to Baku for the last time before his retirement. Accidentally, on its route around the city, his train snags a blue bra hanging from a washing line. Suffering from loneliness, Nurlan decides to embark on the biggest adventure of his life: to find the owner of this piece of underwear. He leaves his village, rents a room in Baku and starts knocking on the doors of houses along the railway track. Nurlan must become creative and spontaneous if he wants to succeed in his quest and convince every woman he meets to try on the mysterious bra.

This is the story told in Veit Helmer’s latest tale about the search for love and belonging. The German director has previously explored similar territory in his films Absurdistan [+see also:

, and he is now making a return to Azerbaijan. Helmer is also collaborating once again with acclaimed Serbian actor Miki Manojlović, after Gate to Heaven, and the cast also includes Paz Vega, Chulpan Khamatova, Denis Lavant and Maia MorgensternThe Bra is set to have its world premiere in the Official Competition of the 31st Tokyo International Film Festival (25 October-3 November).

The Bra was produced by Germany’s Veit Helmer – Filmproduktion and Tsiako Abesadze with SR, SWR and NDR, and with the support of the BKMFFADFFF and MDM. German sales agent Pluto Film is handling the world sales.
