The Institut français’ La Fabrique Cinéma will this year celebrate its tenth anniversary at the 71st Cannes Film Festival (8-19 May 2018), and it will fall to Romanian director-producer Cristian Mungiu (Palme d’Or in 2007 for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days [+see also:

The event run by the Institut français, and formerly called La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde, is a programme for scouting and promoting filmmakers and producers from southern and emerging countries, and offers bespoke support for first or second feature-length projects, in close collaboration with the Cannes Film Festival, the Film Market and an array of professional partners.

Since it was founded in 2009, almost 40% of the 91 projects selected have been completed, resulting in a finished film. This year, standing out among the ten projects accepted are nine fiction titles and one documentary; six are feature debuts, and four are second features. In the past, La Fabrique has supported such movies as Beauty and the Dogs [+see also:
