The plot of this thriller introduces us to 36-year-old Laura, who has lived in Buenos Aires with her stepfather Fredo since she was four, when her mother left Durango (Biscay) with her, following her father’s disappearance under mysterious circumstances: everything pointed to him walking out on them, as he had previously emptied the family bank account.

One day, Laura receives a phone call from Spain: the body of her father has been found, buried in a forest in the Basque Country. The forensic tests confirm that Félix Careaga died 37 years ago, killed by a gunshot to the back of the neck. Laura then decides to fly to Spain to carry out her mother’s unfulfilled wish: before dying from cancer, she said she wanted her ashes to be scattered in a valley in Durango. Fredo accompanies her, and together with an insurance agent, they will begin to investigate who murdered her father.

With a screenplay by Asier Guerricaechevarría, Jon Iriarte and Javier Echániz, and a soundtrack composed by Lucio Godoy, Cuando dejes de quererme is a co-production between Spanish outfit Centuria Films and Argentina’s CEPA Audiovisual, with the involvement of TVE and backing from the ICAA. It is currently being filmed in Argentina and Spain (the Basque Country and Navarre).
