Alberto Rodríguez has nevertheless been able to count on the support of the Spanish mass media ever since the film was presented in the official section of the most recent San Sebastián Film Festival. At that gathering, the movie’s lead actor, Eduard Fernández, scooped the Best Actor Award, and the other nominees in this category will be hard-pressed to snatch the Feroz from his clutches. Besides this nomination for the film, a recreation of the case involving Francisco Paesa, it has nine more nods, including Best Director, Supporting Actor (José Coronado), Supporting Actress (Marta Etura) and Drama Film, according to the announcement of the nominees for the fourth edition of the Feroz Awards (made public yesterday, 1 December), which will be handed out by the AICE-affiliated Spanish film journalists.

During the awards ceremony on 23 January, that great bastion of audiovisual production Narciso Ibáñez Serrador (a television producer and the director of the landmark films The House That Screamed and Who Can Kill a Child?) will receive the Honorary Feroz Award.

, Pedro Almodóvar’s melodrama, with nine nods (including Best Drama Film, Director, Screenplay and Actress for both of its leads: Emma Suárez and Adriana Ugarte). Bear in mind that this is also the film representing Spain in the Oscars race (read the news).

In third place we find an entry by a first-time filmmaker: actor Raúl Arévalo, who with his The Fury of a Patient Man [+see also:

, which was selected at Venice, Toronto and a whole heap of other festivals, has burst into the world of direction with boundless energy. The eight Feroz nominations that his film has garnered are proof of his great talent. This title is followed, with seven nods, by the thriller May God Save Us [+see also:

However, the most notable absence in the list of nominees has to be that of the Truebas: both Jonás (The Reconquest [+see also:
