Greek-born, UK-based director Yorgos Lanthimos has reunited with star Colin Farrell for The Killing of a Sacred Deer [+see also:

, principal photography for which has commenced in Cincinnati, US. Co-written by Lanthimos and his regular collaborator Efthymis Filippou, the film features Farrell as a charismatic surgeon forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice after his life starts to fall apart, when the behaviour of a teenage boy he has taken under his wing turns sinister. Nicole Kidman also stars as the wife of Farrell’s character, along with Barry Keoghan (known for his turn in ’71 [+see also:

(2011) and The Lobster (2015), he has established a reputation as a European auteur. The Lobster won the Cannes Jury Prize in 2015 and Dogtooth won Cannes’ Prix Un Certain Regard in 2009, before going on to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
