Former Film4 head Tessa Ross, along with ex-Working Title television chief Juliette Howell, has launched a new film and television production outfit, House Productions. The company will be based in London, with Ross and Howell serving as joint chief executive officers. BBC Worldwide has a 25% stake in House and will be the worldwide distributor for television productions. Billionaire Len Blavatnik’s Access Entertainment has a first-look deal with House for financing feature films.

During her tenure at Film4, Ross oversaw a number of global hits, including Slumdog Millionaire [+see also:

. She left Film4 in 2014. During her stint at Working Title, Howell delivered popular shows like Birdsong, London Spy, Yonderland and You, Me and the Apocalypse. She left in 2015.

Ross said, “Juliette and I are truly excited about what we can achieve together, and with our partners at BBC Worldwide and Access Entertainment. We’re going to build a creative and supportive home at House Productions, and look forward to growing something unique and long-lasting with both new and old collaborators.” 

“Along with our partners, Tessa and I share a vision for the company where the flow of ideas and creative talent between film and television can achieve the best and most ambitious work. House Productions will be the home of original, exciting stories, a place where ideas can be nurtured and produced in a supportive environment,” Howell added.
