French director Sacha Wolff's career has got off to a flying start with his debut feature, Mercenary [+see also:

, unveiled in the 48th Directors' Fortnight of the 69th Cannes Film Festival, and which has now won the Europa Cinemas Label (handed out by a jury of exhibitors to the best European film in the parallel section). This original and hard-hitting film recounting the misfortunes of a young Wallisian in the world of French professional rugby was produced by Claire Bodechon for Timshel Productions and by Jean Bréhat for 3B Productions; it was co-produced by Arte France Cinéma. Its French distribution will be handled by Ad Vitam, while the international sales are managed by Be For Films.
