For the seventh time, eight countries from South-East Europe are participating in the Cannes Film Market together. Over the past decade, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Cyprus and Croatia have embraced international co-production as a primary financing model that boosts their capabilities and chances for international distribution. by Marko Sosič, a story about the solitary life of a cynical and racist elderly man. Slovenia will also screen a film in the Official Selection’s Cannes Classics programme, The Valley of Peace (1956) by France Štiglic, which unfolds during World War II and follows two young orphans, a German girl and a Slovenian boy, who escape from a town that has been bombed. The children are helped to find a safer place by an African-American pilot, played by John Kitzmiller, who with this role became the first black actor to win the Best Actor Award at Cannes.

Macedonia will screen Amok by Vardan Tozija, about a cruel chain of events that turns a quiet and introverted boy into the fierce leader of a group of ruthless youngsters (sales Reel Suspects), while Bosnia and Herzegovina is represented by Death in Sarajevo [+see also:
