by Mohamed Ben Attia, pulled off a spectacular double win on the awards list, winning for Best Actor and Best Debut Film – Paris-based international sales agent Luxbox (founded in October 2015) comes hurtling to this year’s Film Market at the 69th Cannes Film Festival (11-22 May 2016), where it will introduce itself with two great-looking aces up its sleeve.

by Boo Junfeng, which will be unveiled in Un Certain Regard after it had long fuelled rumours of being included in competition. The new film by the Singaporean director who rose to fame in the Cannes Critics’ Week in 2010 with Sandcastle unfolds at the heart of a jail, and the lead character is a young prison warder who becomes friendly with the person in charge of executing inmates. Produced by Singapore, Apprentice was co-produced by Hong Kong, Germany and France (via Tom Dercourt for CinémaDefacto, which is still on a roll – read the article).
