The Sarajevo Film Festival has announced that renowned Palestinian director Elia Suleiman will head the feature-film competition jury at its 22nd edition, which runs from 12-20 August. 

Born in Nazareth in 1960, Suleiman broke out with his first feature film, Chronicle of a Disappearance, which won the Best First Film Prize at the 1996 Venice Film Festival. In 2002, Divine Intervention won the Jury Prize and the FIPRESCI Prize at Cannes, as well as the Best Foreign Film Prize at the European Film Awards in Rome.

In 2007, he was chosen as one of the 35 directors of To Each His Own Cinema, a collective film for the Cannes Film Festival’s 60th anniversary. His last feature film, The Time That Remains [+see also:

, was in the official competition at Cannes in 2009. In 2012, he completed a short film called Diary of a Beginner, part of the collective feature entitled 7 Days in Havana [+see also:

, which took part in Cannes' Un Certain Regard.

Last year, the Sarajevo Film Festival feature-film competition jury was chaired by Calin Peter Netzer
