While registration is now open for the upcoming edition of the Film Market (11-20 May this year, as part of the 69th Cannes Film Festival), film-industry professionals from all over the world will be able to discover some new additions within the event’s Doc Corner, which will be hosted in dedicated spaces at the Marina Club and the Riviera. This greater exposure is accompanied by the signing of a two-year partnership between the Cannes Film Market and the Ford Foundation, which will thus be able to take advantage of the spotlights focused on the Croisette in order to promote its Just Films programme, comprising documentaries hinging on social justice and the struggle against inequality.

"At the Film Market, we support the stories brought to the surface by filmmakers who are taking on these injustices, and we believe it’s a positive effort to offer a dedicated marketplace and wider exposure for such important works," stressed Jérôme Paillard, the executive manager of the Cannes event. "This agreement with the Ford Foundation will lend the Doc Corner a dynamic dimension, and it will be the ideal place for those companies that are deeply invested in documentary."

For the record, the 2015 edition of the Film Market welcomed 11,554 participants hailing from 120 countries, who attended a total of 1,447 screenings.
