Acclaimed short-film veteran Gabriel Tzafka (Oblivion, Sailor’s Song, Euroman), whose films have made him a staple of the Drama International Short Film Festival and a regular at its awards ceremonies, will this year be making the leap to his feature debut, tapped as one of the 30 projects selected by the Greek Film Centre to share a total sum of €669,000.

Tzafka’s feature, entitled Thorn (Agkathi), is listed alongside 12 other projects selected to be financed at the screenwriting stage, along with Yorgos Tsemberopoulos' follow-up to The Enemy Within [+see also:

, entitled The Omega Story (Istoria Omega), and Yorgos Noussias' long-awaited return following his zombie saga (Evil [+see also:

and Evil in the Time of Heroes), which bears the title Living Their Life (Vivre Leur Vie). These projects, among others, will receive a total of €39,000.

Actress Sofia Georgovassili (Black Field [+see also:

, Ursa Minor) will try her hand at directing with The Preparation (I Proetoimasia), a short set to be produced by Heretic Films, the outfit behind such international festival favourites as The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas [+see also:

. Georgovassili's debut will be among the nine shorts pre-approved to receive a cumulative sum of €135,000.

Moreover, four low-budget projects will share a total of €135,000, with Tasos GerakinisRed Line and Karolos ZonarasFellini among them, while another sum of €360,000 will be handed out to first and second features, including Inkas Film’s production of Minore, which will be Warner Bros VFX artist Konstantinos Koutsoliotas’ follow-up to his impressive Greco-British debut, The Winter.
