Hispano-Italian joint venture

The Italian and Spanish film industries joined forces to knock down, once and for all, the last remaining obstacles to the free circulation of European films.
This morning at the Italian Pavilion in Cannes, a preliminary joint venture was signed by José Marìa Otero, the director-general of ICAA (Instituto de la Cinematografìa y las Artes Audiovisuales), and Gianni Profita, head of the Italian Film Board at the Ministry for Culture. Otero spoke of financing up to 50 per cent (with an upper limit of Euros60,000 per film) while Profita said “we will use all the norms at our disposal and in perfect harmony, to achieve our shared goal of bringing the public closer to cinema.”

The first deals to be made under the terms of the new agreement include Istituto Luce’s purchase of Iberian thrillerm Killing Words by Laura Mana and starring Dario Grandinetti (Speak to Her [+see also:
