Among the local productions, Wallimage has opted to support Méprises, a project that adapts the novel Côté Jardin by Alain Monnier. Directed by Belgium’s Bernard Declercq, this kind of psychological thriller set against a backdrop of love, sickness and manipulation will star Fabrizio Rongione (who is expected to turn up in the credits of three other Belgian films in 2016: Les Survivants [+see also:

film profile]). It will be produced by Les Films du Carré, a fairly young company founded by Nicolas George, and Survive Films, Jean-Luc Vandamme’s new outfit; incidentally, Vandamme has been working on the adaptation for several years now.

The other majority Belgian project being supported was presented by Les Films de la Passerelle, a well-established producer of documentaries in Belgium, which stages the films of Thierry Michel, among others. The movie being backed is Charles Vandenhove, l'architecte de l'art by Jacques Donjean, a 52-minute title devoted to the great Belgian architect Charles Vandenhove.

As for co-productions, Wallimage is once again banking on a number of prestigious projects, beginning with L’Odyssée [+see also:

film profile], the feature debut by French director Thomas Kruithof, which is currently being shot in Brussels, with none other than François Cluzet, Denis Podalydès, Sami Bouajila, Simon Abkarian and Alba Rohrwacher among the cast, and is being staged in Belgium by Scope Pictures. This is in addition to Barrage by Laura Schroeder, a Luxembourgish film (co-produced by Entre chien et loup) that brings Isabelle Huppert face to face with her daughter, Lolita Chammah, as well as What Happened to Monday, staged by Nexus Factory, a sci-fi film with its eye on an international audience, set to be directed by Norway’s Tommy Wirkola. 

The two animated projects receiving support are both adaptations, the first based on the graphic novel Deuxième Génération by Michel Kichka, directed by Véra Belmont, and the second adapted from a recent and very successful comic book, Zombillenium [+see also:
