, everything about which suggested it would be the Belgian box-office hit of 2015. And people will likely not be disappointed, as the film picked up the Diamond Award last weekend, a trophy given out by the Ostend Film Festival, with the support of the Flanders Audiovisual Fund, to a film that has drawn in 400,000 viewers. This is now the fourth time that Jan Verheyen has received this accolade during his career, as he had already racked up similar results with Dossier K [+see also:

. Since then, the movie has already smashed through the 500,000-viewer mark, as it had peaked at 508,000 admissions by the end of its fourth week on release, despite a difficult situation for various reasons, be it the Indian summer or the terrorist alert gripping Belgium – on this note, we must point out that only some of Brussels’ cinemas, where very few Flemish movies get released, have been forced to close their doors over the last few days.

, the film by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Falah about the gang phenomenon in Brussels. While the release proved to be somewhat turbulent (one of the theatres in Brussels that was showing it had to cancel the screenings the day after several bouts of unruliness), the film nonetheless pulled off a fine opening week (54,000 admissions), a result that is all the more praiseworthy when one bears in mind that this was also the work of Brussels audiences, and not just Flemish ones. Its international sales agent (Be For Films) also made the most of the situation to announce that the movie would be distributed in France next March, courtesy of Paname Distribution
