New films have been announced for the programme of the 33rd Torino Film Festival, which will be held from 20 to 28 November 2015. In addition to the already-announced opening film, Suffragette [+see also:

film profile] by Gianni Zanasi, which will be distributed by BIM as of 26 November, andPrima che la vita cambi noi by Felice Pesoli. 

Starring in Zanasi’s film is Valerio Mastandrea, who played a failed rock guitarist in the Emilian director’s previous film Non pensarci [+see also:

film profile], which was unveiled out of competition at the Venice Film Festival in 2007. Zanasi made his directorial debut in 1995 with Nella mischia, which was selected for Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. 

Felice Pesoli’s film, on the other hand, is a documentary about Milan during the 1960s and 1970s which remembers the beat, hippie and freak movements. The film contains never-before-seen interviews with singer-songwriter Claudio Rocchi, who passed away two years ago, Emanuele Giordana, Giorgio Cerquetti and many more. "I wanted to show my daughter and the new generations that those years weren’t just about bullets, aggression and violence", explained the director in an interview. "The title is a quote from the slogan “Let’s change our lives before our lives change us". The film was produced by Ranuccio Sodi’s company Show Biz with the financial backing of the Film Commission Lombardia.

Other films announced for the Festa Mobile line-up include Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, which is being distributed in Italy by Fox Searchlight,The Assassin by Hou Hsiao-Hsien and Under Electric Clouds by Alexey German Jr., which are both being distributed by Movies Inspired.

Being screened in the Onde section is Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s new film Cemetery of Splendour [+see also:

film profile], which was selected for the Un Certain Regard section of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and Stand-by for a Tape Back Up by British poet and performer Ross Sutherland, who uses fragments of old films and television shows to create an audiovisual reflection on memory.
