Billed as a modern, loose and female version of the famous short story by Robert Louis Stevenson (The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde), in the guise of a fantastical comedy about the challenges of modern-day education, and the topics of learning at school and the relationship between pupils and teachers, Madame Hyde will revolve around Mrs Géquil, a shy teacher in a vocational college in the suburbs, who feels a new and mysterious force rising within her after an experiment goes wrong. The screenplay is co-written by Serge Bozon and his regular collaborator Axelle Ropert, and the production will be helmed by Les Films Pelléas.

. Written by the director together with Guillaume Bréaud, the story explores a chronicle of crime and intimacy that takes place in Corsica and Paris between 1991 and 2001. Having been in exile in Paris for the past year, Stéphane decides to return to Corsica in spite of the death threat hanging over his head, in order to attend the funeral of his childhood friend, who has just been murdered. It’s a chance for him to reminisce about the events that led him, a cultured petty bourgeois from Bastia, to move from petty crime onto a mob mentality, then from a mob mentality onto political radicalisation and the underground movement, and then finally onto banishment. A Violent Life will be produced by Les Films Velvet.

Lastly, Arte France Cinéma has selected the project Bonnes Mères, which will be the feature-length directorial debut by actress Hafsia Herzi (winner of the César Award for Most Promising Actress in 2008 for The Secret of the Grain [+see also:

). As previously reported, Arte France Cinéma is also backing the upcoming films by Bruno Dumont, Bertrand Bonello, Olivier Assayas, Arnaud des Pallières, Mia Hansen-Løve, Alain Guiraudie, Paul Verhoeven, Sergeï Loznitsa, Alessandro Comodin, Mehmet Can Mertoglu, Whit Stillman, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Samuel Maoz, Mohamed Diab, Axelle Ropert, Mikhaël Hers, Davy Chou, Caroline Deruas, Rayhana Obermeyer, Sacha Wolff, Michael Dudok de Wit, Jean-François Laguionie, and sisters Delphine and Muriel Coulin.
