The film focuses on hit man Schneider, who is commissioned to carry out a murder by one of his regular clients, Marteen. Busy with family duties, Schneider initially refuses the task, but he ends up accepting it once he hears that the target is Ramon Bax, a writer who lives alone by an isolated lake. It turns out that Bax is not alone – his furious daughter Francisca is also there, and what was supposed to be a quick hit becomes increasingly complicated.

Starring van Warmerdam himself, Tom Dewispelaere and Maria Kraakman in the lead roles, Schneider vs Bax was produced by the Netherlands’ Graniet Films along with Belgian partner CZAR Films, and was backed by the Netherlands Film Fund, the VAF and EurimagesFortissimo is handling the international sales.

After Locarno, Schneider vs Bax is scheduled for Belgian release on 23 September.
