18/06/2015 - Aleksi Mäkelä and Taneli Mustonen are both ready to start new features supported by the Finnish Film Foundation

Veteran Finnish director Aleksi Mäkelä, whose latest film, Towards the Day of Doom, took 180,000 domestic admissions, will next immortalise Love Records [+see also:

film profile] – the Finnish rock label that released 384 LPs from when it started in 1966 until it went bankrupt in 1979.

The movie will focus on “the rise of Finnish rock: three friends start a record company, which against all odds becomes a landmark in the music history of Finland”. It is one title in a feature package that the Finnish Film Foundation will back with €5.8 million worth of production funding. 

Scripted by Antti Pesonen, Love Records will be produced by Matti Halonen and Leila Lyytikäinen, for Fisher King Production, who have scheduled principal photography for the summer. Channel Four Finland will co-finance the film, which will be domestically distributed by Future Film.

film profile], a horror-mystery scripted by himself and Aleksi Hyvärinen, which will shoot from August.

Years after the 1960 murder of four teenagers at a remote campsite by Lake Bodom, a group of youngsters meet there hoping to solve the mystery, by reconstructing it minute-by-minute. But as night falls, the girls realise that this is not really what the boys are after. Principal photography will start in August for the Don Films production by Aleksi Hyvärinen, backed by Channel Four Finland, which will be released in Finland by Future Film. 

Already supporting Timo Vuorensola’s Iron Sky: The Coming Race (see the news), the foundation will also chip in for Finnish directors Saara Cantell’s Tacit Wisdom, Alli Haapasalo’s Autumn Prince [+see also:
