Adapted from a novel by Wlodzimierz Kowalewski, who wrote the screenplay together with the director, the film revolves around Fabian, a young Polish trombonist and dancer, who emigrated during the war and is coming back from England. He comes across a group of amateur musicians and forms a big band with them, specialising in swing. Right from their very first performance on stage, they are an instant hit, and their success exceeds all their expectations. Having become "the king of the swing", Fabian meets Modesta, an intriguing singer, and becomes her lover. The couple of artists, with their rich, uninhibited artistic lifestyle, really make their mark on the drab landscape of this country that is living under the yoke of dictatorship. But one day, Modesta disappears, and this romantic story suddenly transforms into a tale of espionage...

Produced by the WFDiF (Wytwórnia Filmów Dokumentalnych i Fabularnych) studio in Warsaw, Excentrycy will benefit from an original soundtrack composed by the famous Polish jazzman Wojciech Karolak. The DoP is Adam Bajerski, and the movie is scheduled to be released in Polish theatres next autumn.
