Scotland to host The Pixel Lab

The Pixel Lab, the much-anticipated annual cross-media development course, will take place between 28 June and 4 July in the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Designed for producers from film, television, games, interactive and the arts, writers, directors, financiers, distributors and the like, The Pixel Lab helps build stories and media brands across platforms; find new sources of finance and distribution for projects; understand how to utilise emerging technologies; develop audience engagement strategies; and forge invaluable partnerships across the media industries.

Since its creation by Liz Rosenthal’s Power to the Pixel, The Pixel Lab has become the main European training course for interactive, cross-media projects. Feedback from the participants often mentions the workshop as being a career-changing experience owing to the impact of its visionary experts invited from all over the world.

At this year’s event, participants will receive training and advice from world-class experts including; Eleanor Coleman, Indie Sales (read the interview); Rob Crossen, formerly Xbox LIVE; Loc Dao, NFB Canada; Nick Fortugno, Playmatics (read the interview); Nathaniel Hill, McCann; Eric Huang, Made in Me; Lance Weiler, Reboot Stories; and Jennifer Wilson, The Project Factory.

Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in one on one meetings with executives from companies such as ARTE, BBC, beActive, BuzzFeed, Canada Media Fund, Creative Europe, Creative England, Danish Film Institute, Film Agency Wales, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, France Télévisions, Hyper Games, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH, MFG Media and Film Fund, Nordisk Film and TV Fond, Penguin Random House UK, SODEC, The Space, Tribeca Film Institute, Wellcome Trust, ZDF and many more. 

The Pixel Lab is supported by Creative Europe - the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, Highlands and Islands Enterprises, Creative Skillset as part of a Bigger Future 2, Creative Scotland, SDI and BBC ALBA.
