The Romanian National Film Center gives out €2.5 million

Projects set to be directed by Cristian Mungiu, Radu Mihăileanu and Florin Şerban are among the eight fiction features that received grants from the Romanian National Film Center this March. Five features by established directors received total funding of €1.45 million, while three debut features received a total of €540,000. 

After his mysteriously titled RMN was granted the highest amount (€1 million) in the history of the project contests organised by the Center, Cristian Mungiu once again received the biggest grant of this edition: circa €430,000 for the Mobra Films-produced Family Pictures [+see also:

, which got €290,000, while Florin Şerban's America (produced by Early Bird) was granted €270,000. Paul Negoescu's Never Let It Go (see the news) received €225,000 and Constantin Popescu's Pororoca [+see also:

The Hadrian Marcu-directed and 4 Proof Film-produced Natural is the debut feature with the biggest grant of this edition (€225,000), followed by Hi Film Productions and Ivana Mladenovic's The Soldiers, with €195,000, and Parada Film and Mehmet Can Mertoglu's Album [+see also:

, with €122,000.

Seven shorts, directed by Adrian Silişteanu, George Chiper-Lillemark, Adrian Voicu, Bogdan Mustaţă, Peter Kerek and Nicolae Constantin Tănase, received a total amount of approximately €135,000, with the individual grants ranging between €18,000 and €26,000.

As for documentaries, Searching for the Lost Father [+see also:

, by Ionuţ Teianu and Libra Film, received €178,000, while €79,000 went to Mona Nicoară and Hi Film Productions for The Distance Between You and Me and €40,000 to Copel Moscu for The Naive Treasure.
