Filip Peeters began shooting his new film, Wat mannen willen [+see also:

, on 16 February in Ghent. Wat mannen willen is a romantic comedy on the sentimental procrastination of men. We follow the hesitations of six men who are looking for love, or rather, true love. The film is something of a franchise, as it is an adaptation of Simon Verhoven’s 2009 German Comedy Men in the City [+see also:

, which attracted more than two million German viewers at the time. Its sequel was released in 2011. It was then adapted in 2013 in the Netherlands by Mark de Cloe under the title of Mannenharten [+see also:

, earning so much praise that a sequel was announced. We’ll also note that the title reminds us of that of French director Marc Esposito’s trilogy (French Men, a big success in France). Are we witnessing the birth of a new film subgenre, Male Romantic Comedy?
