Los Hongos is the big winner at REC Tarragona
- The Locarno prizewinner gets three awards, while Viktoria bags the Critics’ Award and No One’s Child wins the Audience Award
The 14th REC Tarragona International Film Festival (3-8 December) proved the quality of its boutique selection of first and second films by their directors, with five out of ten titles in the Opera Prima competition winning awards.
The main jury, comprising Nicola Falcinella, programmer of the Venice Critics’ Week; Fernando Vasquez, editor of Nisimazine and programmer of FEST – New Directors New Films Festival in Espinho; and Carlos Marqués-Marcet, director of Long Distance [+see also:

In addition, the festival expanded its industry activities this year with the First Test section - organised in collaboration with the Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture (PICE), of Spain's Public Agency for Cultural Action AC/E - in which young Spanish filmmakers presented their projects at various stages of development to international festival programmers and producers. Also, the producers and directors of newly finished films from Catalonia had one-to-one meetings with the industry professionals.
