(read the review), the feature debut by Gábor Reisz, is still making an impressive splash.

Released on 30 October in Hungarian cinemas by Cirko Film, the offbeat comedy (produced by Proton Cinema and the Budapest University of Theatre and Film Arts) has not dropped out of the top ten at the local box office at any point during its first four weeks of screening (successively rocking up in eighth, seventh, ninth and, again, ninth place) and has retained the same print run of 22 copies (in contrast, the biggest US blockbusters are released across 50-60 screens). This is a promising double win for the 34-year-old filmmaker (who also wrote the screenplay and handled the cinematography for his movie) and for the Paris-based outfit Alpha Violet, which is overseeing the feature’s international sales.
