The funding was distributed through the BLS - Film Fund & Commission of South Tyrol by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano on request of an expert committee led by Christiana Wertz BLS Head of Film Fund and Commission. Of the six Italian projects that obtained financing, two are from South Tyrol; one will be carried out in co-production with Germany and one with France.

One of the beneficiaries of BLS funding is Paco Cinematografica which will produce Giuseppe Tornatore's new film project, provisionally entitled La Corrispondenza. The director, following The Best Offer [+see also:

, returned to South Tyrol, to Bolzano, to set up location for filming his movie and once again opted for an international cast that sees, as of today, the likely participation of Jeremy Irons and Blake Lively as protagonists. The drama, written by the director, obtained funding to the tune of €400,000 from BLS.

Another director who is returning to South Tyrolian territory is Daniele Vicari who, after his Diaz [+see also:

experience, has chosen the San Cassiano area in Alta Badia to set some of the sequences for Bianco, the provisional title of his new movie starring, most probably, Elio Germano with whom he already worked in Diaz and Luca Argentero (who has already worked in South Tyrol on the set of Un boss in salotto [+see also:

lit. a mafia boss in the living room). The movie is produced by Mir Cinematografica together with French outfit Aeternam Films. Thanks to this co-productive format, the movie had obtained, during its pre-production phase, the Italian-Franco development fund from Mibact and the CNC. BLS supported the movie with financing of €480,000.

Another interesting co-production, which this time includes Italy and Germany, is Grand Hotel (provisional title), a drama TV series in 12 episodes directed by Luca Ribuoli (“Don Matteo”, “La Squadra”) and produced by Cattleya and by German firm Beta Film. For filming, the Castel Wolfsthurn and Racines areas as well as the small city of Glorenza were chosen. It stars Valentina Bellè, Eugenio Franceschini and Ugo Dighero. BLS is supporting this fiction with €300,000.

The Bolognese outfit tempesta, headed by Carlo Cresto-Dina, on the other hand, has chosen to produce Fräulein (provisional title), one of the projects developed during the first edition of the BLS RACCONTI#1 Script Lab. Screenwriter Caterina Carone will also direct the film. Christian De Sica and Lucia Mascino are expected to star in this comedy. Shooting will take place in the South Tyrol municipality of Renon, and the BLS is backing it with €480,000.

Finally, two projects will see the participation of South Tyrol productions: Echo Film from Bolzano, which has obtained funding of €65,000 for production of the TV documentary Von Männern und Vätern (provisional title) by Andreas Pichler (Das Venedig Prinzip), co-produced with Austrian Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion from Vienna and HiQ Productions from Lutago, which received €20,000 for pre-production of the documentary film Commissari Europei (provisional title), direction and screenplay by Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi

The new deadlines for applying for BLS funding have been set as 28 January for the first call, 6 May for the second call and 23 September for the third and final call.
