Barea’s Journey

- The Basque actor is directing his second feature film El coche de pedales, set in the Basque Country in the 1950s and starring Rosana Pastor

April saw Basque actor Ramon Barea return behind the camera to direct his second feature film, El coche de pedales on location in Valencia. The film is scheduled to wrap on 31 May in Turia.
Barea also wrote the screenplay with Felipe Loza and the film is produced by Spain’s Malvarrosa Media, Trafico de Ideas, with the Basque Country’s Alokatu, and in collaboration with Portugal’s Take 2000. It also received funding from the Basque Government.
El Coche de pedales is the story of a nine-year-old boy who decides to go on an adventurous journey of discovery in the new pedal car that his father gave him, and stars Rosana Pastor (Land and Freedom), Alex Angulo, Isabel Ruth, Cesareo Estébanez and child actor, Pablo Gòmez. The crew is made up of some of Spain’s most highly-respected technicians and craftsmen: DP Francisco Belda, editor Julia Juàniz and Joao Gil is writing the musical score.
