More women in film
Two leading film directors, New Zealand’s Jane Campion (The Piano, An Angel at my table and Portrait of a Lady) and Britain’s Gurinder Chadha (Bend it like Beckham [+see also:

film profile] and the Bollywood Pride and Prejudice) have championed a scheme launched by Women in Film and Television (WFTV) to encourage more women to become film directors. Every year, two women with some experience of film directing will be placed alongside well-established filmmakers, and their expenses paid by the sponsors.
The scheme is sponsored by leading distributor, UIP, and has the support of Film Council’s chairman, Alan Parker and British Film Institute head, Anthony Minghella, as well as the heads of two of the British film industry’s most successful production companies, Working Title Films and Revolution Films.
