On Thursday, the “Tu Cita con el Cine Francés” mini-festival will kick off in Ideal cinemas in Madrid. Organised by UniFrance, this very first “Rendezvous with French Cinema” on Spanish soil will, from 16-19 October, offer the premiere screenings of seven films, accompanied by their directors. In 2013, Spain was the third-biggest market in Europe (beaten only by Germany and Italy) for French films. On average, more than 50 French features are distributed there every year, and some French exhibitor groups also have some financial interests there.
