While attendance levels witnessed a slowdown in September (-7.3% compared to the same month last year) – which nevertheless has not prevented the running total for 2014 from skyrocketing to +12.8%, standing at 151,64 million admissions, according to the CNC’s estimates – this Wednesday sees the release of two French films that are aimed at younger audiences (and will possibly attract others if they’re lucky). It remains to be seen whether they will succeed in pulling in the viewers in the face of the overwhelming media coverage accompanying the release of Mommy by Canadian director Xavier Dolan (the winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes and distributed by Diaphana across 314 screens).
