kicked off this year’s Netherlands Film Festival (NFF) in the central city of Utrecht yesterday evening (Wednesday). Until 3 October, new (and some old) Dutch films will be screened around town, and a jury will decide on the winners of the Dutch national film awards, the Golden Calves, which will be handed out next weekend.

Starting today, the Holland Film Meeting (HFM) will be getting under way as well. The HFM groups together several international activities that run parallel to the NFF, including the NFF International Screenings, several panels and workshops, and the Binger/Screen International Interview, which this year will feature Oscar-winning Spanish filmmaker Fernando Trueba.

Perhaps the most visible part of the HFM is the HFM Co-Production Platform, which brings filmmakers and producers with specific projects to the Netherlands and tries to hook them up with potential co-producers. HFM will wrap this weekend, when the winners of the HFM Co-Production Platform will be announced.

This year’s selected projects are:

Female Falling Down by Therese AhlbeckEyefeed (Sweden)
