Six films get Development Funding

Six new feature film projects, including Revolving Door by Martha Fiennes (Onegin), have just been awarded a total of £180,032 (Euros260,388) from the Film Council’s Development Fund headed by Jenny Borgars.
Written by George Tiffin and produced by Paul Arnott (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Revolving Door is a psychological thriller in which a British intelligence operative pits his wits against a high-class escort girl, and it was awarded £63,000 (Euros91,119).
Girls at War, a co-production by the UK’s Andrea Calderwood (Once Upon a Time In The Midlands), France’s Dominant 7 and South African Jeremy Nathan, is to be directed by Andrew Dosunmu. The story of love, fate and survival was written by Biyi Bandele and received £30,210 (Euros44,000) from the FC.
One Wish, written by Jim Cartwright and co-developed with UK distribution company Helkon SK, was awarded £43,700 (Euros63,205). This tale of friendship and adventure was produced by Karen Katz (Coded Pictures).
Other projects include A Family Business, a comedy written by Mark Chappell and produced by Jolyon Symonds (Kevin & Perry Go Large), which received £23,012 (Euros33,283), Little Sisters, a drama about two rival girl gangs in a Scottish seaside town, produced by Oscar van Heek (Oscar Films) and written by Andy Goddard, which received £15,110 (Euros21,854) and Rent-a-Wife, a thriller based on a novel by Marcel Theroux. This film received £5,000 (Euros7,232).
Commenting on the new round of awards, Jenny Borgars said: “Appealing to a wide range of audiences, these projects demonstrate the Development Fund’s continuing commitment to all genres of film.”
