Written by two female directors, the script (winner of the 2012 Sopadin Junior Prize) focuses on François. This awkard and eccentric thirty year old was adopted as a child. Willing to do anything to find out where he comes from, he manages to get hold of the contact details of his biological mother, Elise. When he buzzes the intercom, he’s asked if he’s come for the party. He’s not on the guest list. That’s when a providential man appears: an extra worker hired out for the evening. François convinces him to give him his place. He finds himself serving a family that he knows nothing about, his own.

Produced by Antoine Denis for Asa Films (making a debut in feature films), Les bêtises is co-produced by Rezo Films who are managing distribution in French cinemas. Pre-bought by Canal+ and Ciné+, the movie is also backed by the Alsace Region (where all of the filming took place), the Urban Community of Strasbourg, and the Soficas Cofimage 25 and Edca. Video editing rights have been bought by France Télévisions Distribution. Filming took place from 24 June to 2 August.
