New York-based boutique sales company Visit Films has just closed several deals on its eclectic slate, including Carlos Marques-Marcet’s debut feature, Long Distance [+see also:

, which had its market premiere at Cannes. The romantic drama by the Barcelona-born director was picked up by Hagi for Poland, Nouveau for South Korea and Cinesky for airline rights. The film won several awards at Málaga (including Best Film) and has been on national release in Spain since 16 May via Avalon.

Visit Films’ Critics’ Week entry, It Follows, by US director David Robert Mitchell, was sold to Turkey (Bir), the former Yugoslavia (2i Films), the Middle East (Shooting Stars) and Hong Kong (Edko). The teen horror movie had previously been acquired by Metropolitan for France and Icon Film Distribution for the UK. Meanwhile, the Un Certain Regard-selected Charlie’s Country by veteran Australian director Rolf de Heer was sold to Benelux (Cinemien) and Greece (Feelgood Entertainment). The director’s fourth Cannes selection tells of an Aboriginal warrior torn between his community’s traditional way of life and his new, modern existence.

Among other deals closed at Cannes by Ryan Kampe’s company, the Sundance and Berlinale selection 52 Tuesday by Australian director Sophie Hyde was sold to Spain (CineBinario) and Germany (Salzgeber), while I Won’t Come Back by top Estonian director Ilmar Raag was sold to Hong Kong (Edko). The latter, the story of a young teacher fleeing an unfounded criminal charge with an orphaned girl searching for her grandmother, successfully screened in Tribeca’s Narrative sidebar last April before having its market premiere at Cannes.
