(literally: Men’s Hearts, like the original German title), directed by Mark de Cloe and written by Maarten Lebbens, was released on November 28 in the Netherlands.

The film, which recounts the amorous adventures and misadventures of six men who go to the same big-city gym, was a huge hit, attracting 100,000 people in just four days (a number that would be considered a success if reached over the course of a film’s entire career).

The Dutch Men in the City stars Daan Schuurmans, Jeroen Spitzenberger, Fabian Jansen, Teuk Kuilboer, Jon van Eerd and Barry Atsma as the six male friends and Hadewych Minis, Katja Herbers, Georgina Verbaan, amongst others, as their love interests.

The producers have announced that they’ve started working on the screenplay for a sequel for which most of the cast is expected to return.

The original German film also got a sequel, which was released in 2011, though it’s not clear whether de Cloe, who will return to the director’s chair for the second instalment, will be using the screenplay of the sequel as a basis or whether they’ll take things in a new direction.

The first Dutch film was produced by Alain de Levita for NL Film Produkties and is distributed by Dutch Film Works, which will also handle distribution for the second film.
