From the 120 short films submitted for consideration to the AMPAS (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), ten semi-finalists were selected for the Best Short Film Oscar category. A German title is amongst them: Dva, by the director of Serbian origin Mickey Nedimovic.

read the review), tells the story in 26 minutes of an extraordinary and absurd confrontation taking place in 1993 in the mountains between a Croatian man and a Serbian sniper whose antagonism is matched only by their common destiny. The film, written by Nedimovic himself, had its avant-premiere last year at the Max Ophüls Festival in Sarrebruck, where it won the first of a long list of prizes.

It is worth noting that two Germans, Max Lang and Jan Lachauer, hope to receive nominations for the Oscars in the Best Animated Short Film category, for the British production Room on the Broom.

From the ten semi-finalists for the Best Short Film Oscar, five nominees will be chosen on January 16. The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 2, 2014.
