10/10/2013 - Projects budgeted at €1 million or under to be discussed with financiers during event modelled on the Film London Production Finance Market

The 19 filmmaking teams attending Film London’s newly launched Micro-Market (October 16-17) will have the opportunity to pitch and discuss their projects with financiers interested in sourcing projects budgeted at €1M or under. Modelled on the Film London Production Finance Market, filmmakers receive training in negotiating and deal-making as well as how to deliver a good pitch and each team also gets a mentor to support them as they develop their packages for the future. The aim of the Micro-Market is to support projects budgeted at levels not currently served by the industry, and help low-budget filmmakers source finance for specific feature films.

Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said, “Having identified a need among emerging UK producers, we have developed a unique event connecting micro-budget filmmakers with financiers looking for projects in that bracket.”

Financiers attending include representatives from sales companies, investment funds, post houses, online and VOD platforms and public agencies. The Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund supports the event.

Andrea Scarso, Investment Manager at Ingenious Media, said, “The incredible pool of talent working in the micro to small budget space is all too easily overlooked, but it is in this space that you often find the next big thing – and that's just what we're hoping to do.”
