The competition for Best First Film features Yam Yam by Vivian Gofette. Christian leads an uneventful bourgeois life as a rural vet. Searching for adrenaline, he also leads a second life online by flirting with young African women. Until Faustine, a 26 year-old woman from Burkina Faso arrives in his practice and says: “I am here illegally so marry me like you promised you would...”. 82 jours en avril by Bart van den Bempt was also selected. It follows the journey of a couple gone to collect the belongings of their son who died during a trip to Istanbul.  Unintentionally, they will relive the last few days of their son’s life.

Another great Belgian premiere to look out for is Marina, the new film by Stijn Coninx, which will take part in the Grand Masters section. The movie, which recounts the path of famous Italian singer Rocco Granata, will be released in Belgium on November 6. Finally, in the Openness to the World section, the choir comedy Brasserie Romantiek by Joël Vanhoebrouck will be presented.
